Ms. Geyer began teaching at Morelli Ballet in New York City in 1977, but was forced to stop when the roof began leaking and Morelli Ballet closed. She then worked for the AFL-CIO Hotel Motel Trade Council, providing ballet lessons around the five boroughs of New York. In 1979, she opened her own studio in a loft in Tribeca, where she began a popular and innovative "Lunchtime Ballet" class for adults. A program for children was added, and over the next nine years, Studio EGG, as it was called, served the downtown neighborhoods of Manhattan with classes in ballet, aerobics, and theater, as well as a space for local performance artists and teachers. But, in 1988, tired and scarred from long court battles with the landlord over a leaky roof and boiler problems Ms. Geyer closed her New York studio and moved with her husband to Orange County, NY where she taught master classes in area schools and colleges while keeping an eye out for the right space to make a studio.
The opportunity finally came in 1997 to open a studio in Middletown. Full Circle Studio was opened in the fall with six students in downtown Middletown. When the roof began leaking, the heat stopped working and the landlord was unresponsive, the studio was moved to the Orange County Fairgrounds, where it continued to grow. But after two and one half years, the roof began leaking, and with an unresponsive landlord, the decision was made to move again. The new location at 29 Bloomingburg Road was secured and by April 2001, the studio moved again. Full Circle Studio now consists of a large dance studio with and all purpose, sprung wood floor, a Pilates equipment studio, a music room, office, and two bathrooms and dressing rooms. The air-conditioned space offers year round classes. The staff has grown to include Linda Yasek, certified Pilates Instructor and Odile Ponsolle, ballet teacher and choreographer. The studio also rents space to Randi Eisman, yoga, tai chi and chigong instructor and Maryann Maffei, piano instructor.
